My instruments are available in a wide variety of colors. The main parts that you will need to choose colors for are the shell, the spine and bout, and the tuners and control knobs.

I normally paint shells with automotive lacquers, and apply primer, color, and clear coats for maximum durability and gloss. Many solid gloss colors are available, such as red and black; metallic-flake paints are particularly popular, especially electric-blue and aluminum. There is a wide range of colors available to me, and even more can be obtained through a special-order supplier at additional cost. I can also provide color-changing finishes that appear to be different colors when viewed from various angles. For those looking for serious customization, I can do simple airbrush work to create color gradients or stenciled designs at additional cost.

The spine and bout are made of maple, protected with a polyurethane finish. The default option is to leave these parts their natural color (darkened slightly by the polyurethane). I can also stain one or both of these parts with a wide variety of bold colors, using solvent-based stains that do not swell the grain and that penetrate a substantial distance into the wood (so the color will not wear off). Please note that it is generally not possible for me to provide an exact color match between the shell and the maple parts, and that there may be slight variations in color on each piece due to the nature of the wood grain. Staining costs $100 per piece (spine and/or bout).

I use only premium Schaller electric-guitar tuners. Chrome is the default color; black tuners cost an additional $3 each, and gold tuners cost an additional $7 each. The control knobs (volume, blend, etc.) are also chrome by default, with black knobs costing an additional $2 each and gold knobs costing an additional $5 each.
